What Makes Folan Family Dental Unique?

Our Office

Dr. Folan started Folan Family Dental more than 35 years ago. In October 2018, he opened a brand new office with all the latest equipment and technologies.

We have a comfortable reception area with current magazines, special interest books and a dental education section. In addition, we provide complimentary bottles of water. 

At FFD we have a special play area for children equipped with fun, educationally-based toys and large library of children’s books and magazines.

We have created an office that has a “homey” feel to it. FFD is always decorated for a season or particular holiday. 

Our Staff

We feel Folan Family Dental’s greatest strength is our staff. Our kind, caring personnel enjoy our patients and working with each other.  They value the relationships they develop with people and look forward to “catching up” when patients come back for appointments.

FFD Makes Dentistry Fun!

At FFD we LOVE celebrating holidays, special days and seasons. Each month we give out favors in celebration of an occasion such as lip gloss for winter, Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies for Valentines Day, Leprechaun Cookies for St. Patrick’s Day, Boston Strong Ribbons for Patriots Day, Roses for Mother’s Day, Red White and Blue Independence Day Cookies, Sweet and Salty treats for Halloween and Cranberry-Pecan Cookies for Thanksgiving.  

FFD also enjoys celebrating birthdays, special anniversaries and other important events with our patients! 

Each month FFD has a patient Guessing Contest. This game allows patients to estimate how many objects are in a jar for a chance to win a gift card to a local business.  

For our young patients we have large helium filled balloons for them after their appointments.

We appreciate our patients that refer new people to our practice. For each of our current patients that refer a new patient, we add their name to our Patient Referral Contest. Every other month, we pull a name out of a hat and that patient receives a special prize. 

All patients that have an appointment with a dentist receive an ice cream at the conclusion of their treatment.

Our hygienists provide their patients with a hygiene bag (toothbrush, toothpaste and floss) and an apple.  

Technology

Folan Family Dental is an all electronic office.

We have three different types of digital x-rays: 3D, panoramic and intra-oral.  These options make it possible to observe the whole jaw area, the jaw in 3D, a specific part of the mouth or a individual tooth instantly with less radiation that previous film x-rays.

FFD offers CEREC Same Day Crowns. The tooth is prepared and a digital impression is taken.  The crown is milled and inserted in a single visit.

Each treatment room has a monitor directly in front of the patient, so they can clearly see the digital images. This allows the doctor and/or hygienist to review the x-rays with the patient, clearly discuss treatment options or use as a teaching tool. The digital x-rays also assist the patient so they can ask informed questions.

We offer a Patient Portal that allows patients to request a new appointment and pay bills on-line.

At FFD we have a text and e-mail automated system that provides patients with written reminders for scheduled appointments. 

For our patients that would like to stay connected with our office through social media, we communicate with Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram.

FFD in the Community

Folan Family Dental enjoys being a contributing member of our community. Our office believes strongly in dental health education and partners with local agencies to support the importance of maintaining optimal oral health. Folan Family Dental provides the following resources and supports: Dental Health lessons and curriculum to local schools and Presentations on oral health topics to local, non-profit groups and agencies.

FFD Preventative Plan

Folan Family Dental offers the FFD Preventative Plan to our patients who do not have dental insurance. This is an affordable way to receive comprehensive preventative dental care at reasonable prices. 

FFD Endless Whitening

FFD's Endless Whitening Program is a unique plan that assists our patients with keeping a bright, white smile. The program goes hand-in-hand with Preventative Appointments. When patients that are signed up for the program keep their six month appointments, they receive a free syringe of whitening gel.

Our Location

Our practice is located in the heart of Adams Village. We are easily accessible to the public transportation system with a MBTA bus stop a short distance from our building. It is a short bus ride to/from the Ashmont Station (Red Line) or about a 10-15 minute walk. 

After entering our building at 540 Gallivan Blvd, Dorchester there is an elevator to take patients to the second floor, where FFD is located.

Parking

Our building has on-site parking for the length of the appointment with FFD.

Appointments 

Folan Family Dental offers early morning, evening and Saturday appointments for our patients that are unable to come in during regular business hours. 

 We offer consultations free of charge, for patients that would like to know treatment options and prices before they commit.

Paying For Treatment

We accept most dental insurance plans, credit & debit cards, checks, cash, the Lending Club and Carecredit.

Our front desk staff is available to assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and answer any questions. They are happy to help with insurance forms and filings.
